Bali Wedding Star - Class 2

Sunday, October 5th was my second Bali Wedding Star Class only two weeks after the first class. There was definitely not enough time to get all the sewing done. After an exhausting week at work, the  class on Saturday. and then a private movie screening of The Last Rescue, got home late and then had to get up for class.

Linda was still absent so the owner of The Quilt Barn Pam took over. We worked on the the pieces that connect with the rings. I didn't get many done and my left arm that I broke when I fell almost 5 years ago was hurting so bad I ending up stopping around 3 and heading home.

I imagine this quilt is going to take me several years to finish so meanwhile look at this picture and you will see how far I have to go - and mine is going to be seven rings by seven rings.

Bali Wedding Star - Progress Report 2

I finished the last 3 strips on the purple and did a set of blue arcs and a set of green arcs. By Saturday night my left arm was really really hurting.

Just 11 more sets to do. 88 "A" arcs and 88 "B" arcs

Bali Wedding Star - Class 1

Class was last Sunday on what was a definitely overbooked weekend. Six hours of card making until midnight on Saturday and then up and down to Puyallup for six hours of quilting. My left arm was just killing me.

Each 42" strip of fabric will do eight "A" arcs and eight "B" arcs. I just have three 21" strips left to finish the first sets. Then a mere 104 more 42" strips to finish the arcs. I won't be even starting on them until today.

The next class is on Sunday, October 5th which follows a Glacier Star quilting class Saturday 10 to 5 and a movie premiere in Edmonds Saturday night of The Last Rescue. Overbooked again.

Which is also what is happening the next month - Glacier Star class Saturday, November 1st 10 to 5, card making 6 to midnight and then Bali Wedding Star final class on Sunday 10 to 4.

Glacier Star - Technique 4 Final Report

I did get the eight snowflakes sewn together before my class last Sunday.

I was then curious about how the center of the quilt was going to look so I laid them out together.

The next step was to sew technique 4 to the already joined technique 2 and 3.

I had to then lay them out to see how the center of the quilt would look again.

I then set out the blocks from technique 1 -

Technique 5 will go in between and join everything together. I was going to do that next but I have a 104 42" long fabric strips to sew to the A and B arcs of the Bali Wedding Star quilt - in a mere two weeks - now down to one week.

Bali Wedding Star - Progress Report

There is a reason they say to start three weeks before class cutting out the patterns, templates, and fabric. It takes hours and hours and hours to cut everything out.
