Busy Week

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights after work, I hung pictures on the wall and sorted scrapbook paper. All the doodads were unpacked on Saturday. Last night I started sorting through my scrapbooking kits. Right now I would like to throw everything away, but I think I have figured out some storage solutions.

Sunday Afternoon

I have all the downstairs boxes unpacked so all the doo dads are out where they belong and all that is left is to hang the pictures on the walls.  Instead of doing that my daughter and grandsons came for a visit.

Jackson is supposed to be sitting on the chair in the corner down the hall - time out for hitting his brother - so of course, he has been scooting the chair down the hall.

Dylan is playing with cat toys - both boys were - last time they visited they played with my orange rubber gloves and mini flashlights. Obviously you don't have to buy toys. I do have toys for them - 30 year old toys that their mom and uncle played with and they love them! They don't talk or make noise and there is nothing electronic. When they are done with all of them, they move on to their alternate toys - gloves, flashlights, and cat toys.

Still to Do for My Room

Risor Room Divider

The quilt on my bed is the first quilt I made in 2000 although I did make two doll quilts in 1983. It has a matching dust ruffle which is not on right now because I am redoing it so that it attaches with Velcro. That way it will be easier to change quilts and dust ruffles. I also plan on putting matching material in the room divider which I saw in a display at Ikea.

The center of the quilt is a wall hanging from McCall's Quilting and I designed the rest of the quilt. I don't know why I buy so many patterns and kits because I really liked designing this quilt and the one below which I finished December 2001.

The twelve corner blocks were a block of the month that I did - the one and only BOM that I have actually done every month when I got it.

Sewing Area is Done!

This is my Horn thread cabinet and sewing cabinet with side table for a serger and an extension that folds up from the back to give plenty of space for a large quilt. Under the window is my Ikea Liatorp sideboard.

On the right is my Ikea Liatorp bookcase with more fabric and project boxes.

On the right in front of the Ikea Risor room divider is a 5 drawer chest and then a 3 shelf cabinet which has an ironing board on the back of it.

On the other side of the divider is Puddy Tat on my bed - or is it his?

The rest of my room.

Stan Lee and a view of the sewing area.

1999/2013

1999
I decided to post the part of the quilt I finished in 1999 ~ not much ~ just two churches and one tree which is also what I managed to get done this past weekend.

2013
I did not get the last church done because I decided to finish my sewing area which is what I did Monday and Tuesday nights and then I started on my scrapbook room last night and tonight.

Not enough hours in the day to do everything. I will post sewing room pictures tomorrow night. I am pleased with how it turned out.

Go Seahawks!

I'm in Sequim, WA on the Olympic Peninsula for the weekend. I decided to stay and watch the Seahawk/Falcons game before heading home to the Seattle area (2 hours and 10 minutes with light traffic.) I always underestimate how long it takes to sew so I am going to finish the first row this morning. Sewing is going fine - game not so well. Come on Seahawks!

Saturday, January 12, 2013

I have recently moved and have just about finished setting up a new sewing area. I purchased an Ikea Liatorp sideboard and two bookcases for fabric etc. Today I have started working on a quilting project from 1999 that I had forgotten I had and found when I was unpacking totes with sewing projects. It is the Fons and Porter's Christmas Joy Sampler which appeared in their magazine throughout 1999. I had gotten all of the fabric (of course) for each of the six rows - Cumberland by Fons and Porter - and I had completed two of the five churches for one of the rows with the other three churches cut out. Tonight I will finish the church row. Tomorrow I am going to finish putting away patterns and fabric totes that I picked up from my mini-storage today. Hopefully I can also start on another row.
