May 18th Uptown Glassworks in Renton

Val was not able to come over and use her Groupon so she sent Dennis. The Groupon had said we would be making a Santa Claus but they actually gave us the choice of making twenty or so different items including vases, bowls, flowers, etc.

Dennis and I decided to make flowers.

She is using a scoop device to help form the flower. In the pictures the furnace and flowers are white but in person they are red hot!

Any time the flower blob looks like it is melting into the fire you turn that side up and the it reforms so that it is circular again.

While she is shaping the flower you have to blow into a tube to put air into the center.
The cabinet in the back of this picture is where things go to be slowly cooled down over 3 days.

I went back on Thursday to pick them up.
Dennis' yellow flower for Val - and my red flower with yellow spots which is now in my mom's vase on the kitchen counter.

Boys and Blankets

I had been telling Lisa about falling in love with the Singer Featherweight so she saw this and thought it would be a good edition to my sewing room area.

The Boys are really enjoying the new cushions. Since I finished the cushions, I have spent a lot of time working from home. I did manage to get a couple of quick blankets done

Progress

This weekend Nicole came over both Saturday and Sunday and finished sewing two of the four pillows she is planning on making.

I worked on the cushions for my bench and then finished them Monday afternoon.

I took them upstairs and the boys helped me try them out.

Tomorrow I will work from home again after PT and then back to work on my quilt.

Staples Out - Progress on Cushions

On Friday I got the staples taken out! I then went home and spent 7 hours working.

On Wednesday I had worked on the cushions for my room. I put in two zippers and got the side ring all assembled. The four cushion pieces are ready to have the piping sew on and then the ring attached to each side - and then they will be finished! Then it will be back to sewing Julie Herman's Boxed In with the Enchanted Garden fabric.

1st PT

7 days Post Op from my total right knee replacement -been home for 4 days now. My card from my sister Lisa was a big hit with my surgeon and the nurses at Valley Medical Joint and Spine Center.

Busy day today and physical therapy went OK considering I pulled the muscles in my upper right thigh trying to stand up on Saturday.

This week Nicole posted a picture on Facebook of Jackson enjoying the new cushion.
